Red Lips tutorial

Last year I started this project because I saw too few women over 40 (and older) in the (social) media.

Women who inspire others with how it’s done when you pass the 40 line. And I mean, done fiercely and fearless, in a modern, fashionable way, without fear for some wrinkles or grey hair. Of course, there were some women, but simply not enough. And not only in pictures but also in the vlogs and videos.

So I started to portray inspiring women, and I asked makeup artist Esther van Maanen to make some makeup tutorials for AndBloom. I personally think it’s very refreshing to see a woman aging naturally like Esther, giving me advice and showing me how to do my makeup.

Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. – Kahlil Gibran

Esther: “”To keep lipstick from bleeding into fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth, you can use an invisible lipline fixer. It prevents your lip color from bleeding because it fills in those fine lines. After that, you can apply the perfect lip shape with a pencil. You can cheat a bit if you need to!

After drawing the outer line, fill in the rest of the lips to create a good base for your red lip color. Fade the lipline with a small lip brush. And finally, the red matte lipstick. Matte lipsticks bleed less into the lines and stay on better and longer. Great for those long Christmas dinners.”
