Tell us what you’d like us to know about yourself:
I was born in Aruba, lived there for 19 years with my grandparents and my sister. I have good memories of those years.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My most outstanding achievement was when I apply for a job as a nurse in Alkmaar. I quit my job in Aruba and left my island to work in the Netherlands; I went alone. I originally had the intention to return to Aruba to make a career in health care. After a while, I met my Dutch husband after 6 months. We got married and have 2 daughters and 1 grandson (my pride).
What is the worst part of getting older for you?
The worst part of getting older is knowing and feeling that my body isn’t as before when I was younger.
What is the best part?
The best part of getting older is realizing that not everything is what it seems to be. I am also enjoying that I am now doing my own thing how and when I want.
If you could write a letter to your younger self, what would you say?
If I could write a letter to my younger self, I would say: please listen more to the stories that were told by the elderly about the older days.
What’s the one thing you most hope for personally in the coming year?
I hope to keep on enjoying being with my family.
