Nassima

This project doesn’t just feel like a mission to bring back older women in (social) media, it’s also a constant search for positively aging women of different ages, between 40 and 100.

Besides that, I also search for women with varying types of body, big, small, tall, thick, thin, tiny, or whatever shape there is. We are all different and all unique, with long hair, short hair, little hair, freckles, age spots, redness, many wrinkles, or just a few, sporty bodies or not sporty at all. I am the happiest when I can combine all these different kinds of women in one day (often 5 women at once and one day a month on average, which is a challenge in itself), and especially when they also have different backgrounds, roots of parents who are initially from a country other than the Netherlands.

We have portrayed quite a few women with diverse backgrounds because the Netherlands is a very multi-cultural country where many nationalities come together. Unfortunately, not every photo shoot succeeds in getting different nationalities together, but the concept is growing in the right direction. We portrayed and published Dutch, Turkish, Greek, American, Spanish, Antillean, Chinese, Indian, African, Indian, Belgian, English, Colombian, Swiss, Korean women, and, from today Nassima, I proudly say, a Moroccan woman.

Tell Us About Yourself?

My name is Nassima Elidrissi. I am a single mother of 2. My daughter Selin is 15 years old, and my son Imran is 10 years old. Born in Holland, but my roots are from Morocco. I am an extravert, I love humor, sometimes I can be sluggish, I live to take risks, and I like to take on challenges.

What Do You Do for Work?

I am an entrepreneur. I work as an actor in the theater and also as a theatermaker. You can book me as a host, I am a spoken word artist. I love to give writing workshops to kids and teenagers. I do theater workshops, and I provide positivity workshops to women. I just finished my first event online, “De Schiedamse Poetry Slam,” with two other amazing ladies.

I also work at a concert- and conference building “De Doelen,” and at “Maastheater en dans,” both in Rotterdam. I just love to work!
What are you Most Proud Of?

I am the proudest of myself because I made some big choice in life that was very hard. But in the end, it was all worth it. Now at the age of 40, I can say I am truly happy with my life and I love myself!

What’s the Biggest Risk You’ve Ever Taken?

I think significant risks are so personal. I also believe that we are taking big risks in our lives all the time. How often do you choose a direction in your life? And can you think back later? What if I had chosen the other path? I don’t see them as a risk anymore but more like a challenge.

What’s your fantasy version of your older self?

Hmmm, I really don’t know, and I don’t think about it.

What is a big difference between you then and you now?

Well, I can tell you that a few years ago I didn’t listen to the inner voice that was warning me about some situations, but nowadays I do.

What would you not reveal about yourself on a first date?

Actually, I will reveal a lot because he has to know some things from day 1. But I will not tell him my bed secrets immediately, that’s the most common question I get these days. 🙂

Best parenting advice?

My advice is to be open with your kids and talk a lot with them. The best advice is maybe to explain to them about life. Let them grow up the way they feel the best and support them. And parents have to apologize also once in a while because parents are humans and even make mistakes.

Strangest recent middle-of-the-night thought?

I am hungry.

What’s your current age?

40 Years young, but in my mind, I feel like 20.

This community originated from my love for photography, fashion, lifestyle, and consciousness. After I turned 40 I started to miss inspiring websites with coolness and authenticity towards aging.
