Imelda

I am originally Irish but have enjoyed living in the beautiful Netherlands for over 40 years.

So I was born in Ireland, Dublin. In a Catholic family with a father, mother, and 1 sister. My father passed away at the age of 32, after which I lived with my grandfather and grandmother for years.

My mother moved to England with my sister and me when I was 11 years old. I emigrated from England to the Netherlands in 1983 with my 3 children.

I have been a full-time mother and housewife and have always considered it essential for my children to be at home. I always say; I have had a vibrant career as a loving caretaker for small and later grown-ups.

Now that I am older, I have the time to do things that I really enjoy. I enjoy working in the garden and going out for days to lovely places. The less fun thing about aging is that my body can no longer do everything I want. Despite that, I have a wonderful life. I have no regrets at all, life runs as it does, and I made the best of it. The most significant risk I have ever taken is emigrating to the Netherlands with 3 children. In the end, I never regretted that decision. Nowadays, I am most proud of my children and grandchildren.

I try to keep physically moving as much as possible and do everything myself as much as possible. I hope to be able to remain independent for a long time to come. Furthermore, I have a positive attitude towards life. To start my day positively, I love to take a nice shower to start the day fresh. My biological age is 81, but I feel mentally younger, and I still want to do a lot. My body does not always allow this.

This community originated from my love for photography, fashion, lifestyle, and consciousness. After I turned 40 I started to miss inspiring websites with coolness and authenticity towards aging.
