Explore the SOFT! Textile Art Exhibition at Rademakers Gallery

Get ready to immerse yourself in the captivating world of textiles! Rademakers Gallery is thrilled to announce the return of the SOFT! Exhibition, running from September 11th to December 7th, 2024.

This year’s show invites you to explore how textiles shape our well-being, offering a sensory journey into comfort and emotional expression. Join us for the festive opening on September 14th!

SOFT! dives deep into the impact of textiles on our lives, showcasing how they act as both a second skin and a canvas for creative expression. In its 6th edition, the exhibition will highlight the ways textile art fosters community, emotional wellness, and a sense of belonging. As fashion and art increasingly converge, Rademakers Gallery is breaking down boundaries, celebrating how each discipline enriches the other.

Expect to see a vibrant mix of familiar favorites and exciting new talents. Returning artists include Mae Engelgeer, Julia Kiryanova, Joana Schneider, Yamuna Forzani, Ronald van der Kemp, Simone Post, Coen Derickx, and Antoine Peters. They’ll be joined by fresh faces Anne von Freyburg, Lisa Konno, Kelly Konings, and Sofie Aaldering. Each artist brings their unique perspective to the theme of well-being through textiles.

  • Joana Schneider and Coen Derickx use textiles to champion sustainability and environmental consciousness. Schneider’s tactile sculptures spark conversations about nature, while Derickx’s organic shapes and vivid colors stimulate imagination and diverse interpretations.

  • Yamuna Forzani and Anne von Freyburg delve into themes of diversity, femininity, and identity. Forzani creates inclusive spaces that amplify marginalized voices, while von Freyburg’s bold works challenge viewers to embrace human complexity.

  • Mae Engelgeer blends traditional techniques with contemporary innovation, crafting luxurious fabrics that evoke harmony and comfort. Simone Post focuses on the creative process, valuing materials for their potential rather than their final form. Sofie Aaldering expands her practice beyond fashion, exploring various design types.

  • Julia Kiryanova builds community through immersive experiences that explore vulnerability and empowerment. Mina Abouzhara’s textiles reflect Moroccan collective memory, particularly related to embroidery and the role of women.

  • Kelly Konings reexamines the relationship between textiles and garments with a contemporary twist. Ronald van der Kemp redefines luxury fashion with a commitment to sustainability and inclusivity. Alongside van der Kemp, Lisa Konno works to blur the lines between art for the walls and wearable art. Antoine Peters, a longstanding figure in fashion, now uses art to offer fresh perspectives on clothing, the world around us, and our own reflections.

These artists weave together a rich tapestry of creativity, resilience, and community, using textiles to create spaces that nourish the mind, body, and soul. Don’t miss this extraordinary exhibition at Rademakers Gallery!
